Product change notification regarding

Wi-Fi functionality in the X-series

10.7.2025

The application of the EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED) cybersecurity requirements (EN 18031:2024) will begin on August 1st, 2025. The directive aims to protect communication networks, improve privacy, and prevent financial fraud via networked devices.

More information about the directive can be found here:

Due to tightened cybersecurity requirements and the directive, we have decided to remove Wi-Fi functionality from our central units.
This change affects the FX-3000-X and FX-Spider-X product series.

We will release a software update for X- product series in August 2025. As part of this update Wi-Fi will be disabled.

Fidelix building automation central units have included Wi-Fi functionality since 2018.
Wi-Fi was originally designed to facilitate installations and commissioning, allowing installers to wirelessly connect to the device during testing.

What this means:

  • When device's software is updated, Wi-Fi will be no longer be available
  • In installations where the Visio-X user panel is connected to central units via Wi-Fi, the connection must be replaced with a fixed Ethernet cable connection.

Special attention should be paid to FX-Spider-X installations, which do not include a default Ethernet cable between the display and the central unit. A 50 cm Ethernet cable, also available from our warehouse, is well suited for this purpose.

If you need wireless connectivity in the future, a separate router must be used to establish the connection.

Note! These changes apply only to the X series.
