This article is part of a series focused on our value work, through which we are introducing the shared values of the ACG to Division Fidelix. During the spring, summer, and autumn, we will explore these values more deeply through culture workshops, focusing on how values are reflected in our daily work and everyday actions.
We care.
In this article, Lauri Halkosaari, COO, shares how the value “We care” is reflected in our operations—especially through interaction. While developing complex products and working with multiple stakeholders, caring means being able to listen, share knowledge, and build collaboration across team boundaries—even when working from different locations or countries.
Interaction is a core part of our daily work. When we’re developing complex and technically demanding solutions, success depends on how well knowledge and expertise flow between people—within teams, and also with customers and suppliers. No one works in isolation; everyone’s work connects to someone else’s. That’s why smooth communication isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a fundamental requirement for everything we do.
A manager’s communication skills play a particularly important role—not just for their own work, but also in enabling others to stay connected. With teams operating across various locations in Finland and Sweden, effective remote collaboration becomes even more essential. Everyone needs to find their own way to express their views and to listen to others.
The importance of collaboration was especially evident during the launch of Linux. The project brought together experts from different units, countries, and companies. Progress required constant communication and trust—without which such a demanding project couldn’t have been completed. And the work doesn’t stop at launch: it continues in customer support, ongoing development, and continuous improvement.
In Fidelix’s product business, our employer promise—“we like to get things done”—isn’t fulfilled alone, but through teamwork. That’s why communication isn’t just a skill—it’s a shared way of working and showing that we care.
